The “Where Do I Even Start?” Feeling

You know those weeks where Japanese is not “hard,” it is just… slippery?

Like you know the pieces, but they keep sliding off the table.

That was me.

And it made one thing feel extra obvious.

When you are stuck, the worst part is not the work. It is the “where do I even start?” feeling.

Kumi Insights:

Onboarding

Onboarding has to work for everyone.

If you are brand new, we want you to land softly.

If you are experienced, we want it to feel clean and respectful. It shouldn’t feel like a drag to pick up Kumi if you’re already well engrained with another solution that you’re unhappy with.

The goal is simple: meet you where you are, and get you moving.

More “oh, I get it.”

Less “wait, which path am I supposed to pick?”

Kumi Insights:

Dashboard (Daily Fold)

Some days you want full control. Other days you just want the app to tell you what matters, because your brain is tired.

That is what the dashboard is for.

And the center of it is Daily Fold.

Even though we have a whole dictionary of content you can pull from, we are building systems that help you avoid review hell.

Daily Fold grabs the highest impact reviews and lessons, and fits them into the time you picked.

Five minutes. Twenty. An hour.

You open Kumi and you do not have to hunt.

You do not have to do the “what should I even review?” math.

Don’t worry, we already have you covered.

And if you do know exactly what you want to do, everything is still there. No friction.

Kumi Insights:

Progress (KMT and JLPT)

Quick reminder because this trips people up.

We built the KMT to run parallel to the JLPT.

So progress in one has real carryover in the other.

The difference is: KMT is an actual learning curriculum.

It is what lets us connect the whole language like one ecosystem instead of a bunch of disconnected parts.

We want “in progress” to feel human.

Not “you are behind unless you hit the next level.”

More like: you are getting better at Japanese you actually use.

That’s it for this week.

When you study Japanese, do you want a system that picks the next step for you, or a system that gives you full control?

Or do you want both, depending on the day?
